PAM00087
Panerai Luminor Submersible 1000M - PAM00087
The Pam87 is also know as the "big tuna" and "la bomba" for its resemblance to and heft of tuna can. It has a 47MM case and somewhat rare blue dial, three day power reserve and is water resistant to 1000M. Yes, 1000M so it literally is a submarine. It is a hardcore utility diving watch and will build forearm strength if worn daily. Tritium markers aged well (or poorly to some) and offer a wonderful patina against the blue dial. Few were made - this one, an H-series is one of 200 made in its final year of production. It also has a helium release valve similar to the Rolex Deep Sea Dweller and also stands tall and wide.
Seiko "Gold Turtle" SRPC44
Not all great mechanical watches have to be expensive. This newly acquired Seiko Gold Turtle can be found for under $400 USD shipped. It is a beautiful watch, even better with a custom strap. Size is 45M but sits like a smaller watch in my opinion. It isn't overly heavy and doesn't feel like its clunking into things as I work. Great vacation watch - stylish, inexpensive, waterproof diver. Two window day/date allows you to choose French or English three character days. Bezel feels great and can be wound and set by hand by unscrewing the crown. Arguably one of the best values out there for any watch collector
